what is PAP+?
the short answer
PAP+ is the brightening active at the heart of beam. it's peroxide-free, and it's how beam lifts the surface stains that coffee, tea, and wine leave behind.
on the ingredient list you'll find it as phthalimidoperoxycaproic acid, PAP for short. it is not hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, the peroxide actives traditional whitening strips are built on.
why beam uses it
we wanted a formula that doesn't rely on peroxide to lift surface stains. so the whole formula is built around PAP+ instead. that's the point of beam, not a footnote.
what it does
beam brightens and lifts surface stains: the ones that settle on the outside of your teeth from coffee, matcha, red wine, and everything else you drink. think of it the way you think about a face mask, not a dental procedure.
what it doesn't do
beam works on surface stains only. it isn't a medical or dental treatment, and it doesn't replace a visit to your dentist. results may vary; the effect is temporary.
before you start
if you have dental work or any concerns about your teeth, talk to your dentist before starting anything new, and stop use if irritation occurs. beam is not for children under 16, and not for use while pregnant or breastfeeding or if you have existing dental or gum problems.
